| You have to see this movie - Slumdog Millionaire |

When i first heard this movie was up for an Oscar, I was disgusted. I didn't want to see it, I mean there were no name actors in it..not one!! It sounded like a foreign film, and I didn't understand how a foreign film should be afforded the opportunity to win Best Picture of the year. Stuck in my sister's apartment in Hollywood one weekend with nothing to do, she happened to have a copy of it and pretty much forced me to watch it. Five minutes into the movie, I was captivated. Enthralled and sobbing from the middle of the movie till the end, I was impressed; Hollywood finally got it right. Slumdog Millionaire is charming, sweet, depressing, hopeful and enlightening. As a result, your emotions are engaged, and you fall in love with the people and children of India. It doesn't matter that there is no Brad Pitt, George Clooney or Will Smith in the movie. And best of all, it's both a girl and a guy's movie. It has enough romance for chick flick status, yet also enough bad guys for your man to enjoy it as well. Trust me on this...you will love this movie. |
| The Best Reality Show Ever - Tough Love |

| Let's face it, men would rather chew off their arms then tell us why they're not calling us. But VH1 and Steve Ward found a way to make them do it....a reality show of course. Produced by Drew Barrymore, and on every Sunday night on VH1, this dating help for crazy women show is awesome!! Steve sets up all these crazy girls with dates, after of course daily therapy sessions and makeovers, and then afterwards films the dates dishing on the girls. They honestly say what they think about the date and the girl and if they would ever call her again. Wouldn't you just love to have someone like that going after our dates getting honest feedback about us?? Maybe it would be painful but I'd risk it just to figure out what the hell men are thinking! And of course they have stereotypes of the types of women out there. There's the goldigger, the ball buster, the stalker, the desperate to get married girl and the wallflower. I'm not going to pretend I am watching this show for anything other than purely entertainment purposes, but maybe some of Steve's good advice will sink in. |
| Books You Won't Be Able to Put Down - The Twilight Series |

I had heard all the buzz about this new book called Twilight by Stephenie Myers. Always easily influenced, I ran right out to Barnes and Nobles and was perplexed that I couldn't find this much talked about book in the best sellers section. Imagine my surprise when I found it in the teenage romance section! With some misgivings, I bought it and promptly stayed up all night reading it. Then ran right back to Barnes and Nobles the next day and bought the remaining three books in the series. Women of all ages love this book, and basically the reason is the hero of the story, Edward Cullen, the beautiful 17 year old vampire that is the culmination of every woman's dream of a perfect love. He loves the heroine Bella Swan with the intensity that all women want from their lovers. I mean, isn't this our dream? To have the most beautiful perfect man in the world obsessed and madly in love with plain old us, and to know that he would die without you. Yes, I know.....but that is why this is in the fiction section. However, impossible as this scenario is, it's still a wonderful read, and for awhile, we are transformed into Bella's world and loved by Edward as well. |

I just moved into a loft with slanted walls. I love to hang pictures and paintings. There is nothing i hate more than a bare wall. But how could i hang anything on a slanted wall?? www.dabbledown.etsy.com to the rescue! They have the coolest wall decals ever! My problem is going to be just picking one, They have so many different styles, and lettering! You can put up any slogans or sayings you want! I'm kind of leaning toward.."Brad Pitt Slept Here." With their many motifs and many styles, all at affordable prices, you can decorate your place and make it look chic without having to hire a mural painter, and get the same effect at a fraction of the price. I just moved, and was sitting around boxes of old pictures that of course I had been meaning to put into a scrapbook which never happened, wishing for a genie to come and organize these pictures into something I could store and share. Voila! I hear about Scanphotosdigital.com. All I had to do was ship this mess to them, and they would scan them all, and send me back digitized images. The best part is they can also scan from negatives and slides! AND they get all your photos back to you within three days! Is that magic or what?
